In John 15:12, Jesus said, “This is my commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.” Notice that Jesus didn’t say that loving one another was His suggestion. No, as Believers, we must love one another, whether we feel like it or not.

If Jesus had simply told us to love one another, without any qualification, that would be one thing. However, Jesus made it clear that we are to love one another as He has loved us.
