I’m sure we’ve all been in situations where we’ve felt absolutely helpless and clueless. In the Bible, King Jehosophat and the people of Judah found themselves in just such a position.
In II Chronicles 20, King Jehosophat received word that enemy armies were approaching the Kingdom of Judah. II Chronicles 20:3 says “Jehoshaphat was afraid and turned his attention to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.” Then, he gathered all the people throughout the cities of Judah for a massive prayer meeting in Jerusalem. The entire text of Jehosophat’s prayer is contained in II Chronicles 20, but here’s a key verse:
“…we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You.”
In other words, “we’re clueless here…” Well, the outcome of this was a tremendous victory for the people of Judah.
The next time you’re feeling clueless about a situation, do as King Jehosophat and the people of Judah did – turn your eyes towards the LORD – you’ll see great victories in your life, too.
